How Much Does an Exhibition Stall Cost in India? (2026 Guide)
What an exhibition stall costs in India in 2026: indicative per-square-metre rates for octonorm, modular and custom stands, worked examples for 9, 18 and 36 sq m, and the other costs to budget for.

The cost of an exhibition stall in India depends mainly on the type of build and its size in square metres. As an indicative guide, Management Touch’s stand-build rates start from ₹350 per sq m for an octonorm stall, ₹1,000 per sq m for a modular stand and ₹8,000 per sq m for a designer or custom stand. These rates cover the stand build only; space rental, power, logistics and your own team’s costs sit on top.
This guide explains what drives the number, works through examples at common stall sizes and shows where exhibition budgets most often leak.
Shell scheme or bare space: what are you actually buying?
Before comparing stand builders, be clear about what the organiser is selling you. Most Indian trade shows offer two kinds of space:
- Shell scheme space: the organiser provides a basic booth, usually octonorm-style aluminium uprights with white panels, a fascia board with your company name, carpet, a few lights and a table and chairs. What is included varies by organiser, so always read the exhibitor manual.
- Bare (raw) space: you get only the floor. You appoint a stand builder to design, fabricate and install everything, and you usually have to register that contractor with the organiser.
Shell scheme is the quickest way to exhibit, but it looks the same as every neighbouring stall. Bare space gives you complete freedom and, with it, complete responsibility for the build.
What are the three main types of exhibition stand?
Octonorm stalls
Octonorm is a system of aluminium uprights and beams holding flat laminated panels. It is fast to erect, reusable and the most economical option. Branding is usually limited to vinyl graphics and a fascia. It suits first-time exhibitors, small product displays and upgrades to a basic shell scheme.
Modular stands
Modular exhibition stands use reusable frame systems, typically aluminium extrusions with tension-fabric graphics, lightboxes, shelving and counters. They look far more premium than octonorm, can be reconfigured for different stall sizes and are designed to travel from show to show.
Designer or custom stands
Custom exhibition stands are designed from scratch and fabricated in a workshop from plywood, MDF, metal, acrylic, glass and specialist finishes. They allow bespoke shapes, meeting rooms, storage, product plinths, integrated screens and, where venue rules allow, double-decker structures. This is where your brand has the most presence and where costs vary the most.
What are the indicative rates per square metre?
The following rates are indicative starting points for the stand build and apply “onward”, meaning the final figure rises with specification:
- Octonorm: from ₹350 per sq m onward
- Modular: from ₹1,000 per sq m onward
- Designer / custom: from ₹8,000 per sq m onward
Within each type, the rate moves with finish quality, wall height, structural complexity, the number of enclosed rooms, the volume of graphics and how much time you allow. Confirm with any builder whether a quoted rate includes GST.
How much does a 9, 18 or 36 sq m stall cost to build?
Multiplying the indicative rates by the stall area gives a starting point for the build. Remember that these figures cover the stand build only.
9 sq m stall (3 m × 3 m)
- Octonorm: 9 × ₹350 = ₹3,150 onward
- Modular: 9 × ₹1,000 = ₹9,000 onward
- Custom: 9 × ₹8,000 = ₹72,000 onward
18 sq m stall (3 m × 6 m)
- Octonorm: 18 × ₹350 = ₹6,300 onward
- Modular: 18 × ₹1,000 = ₹18,000 onward
- Custom: 18 × ₹8,000 = ₹1,44,000 onward
36 sq m stall (6 m × 6 m)
- Octonorm: 36 × ₹350 = ₹12,600 onward
- Modular: 36 × ₹1,000 = ₹36,000 onward
- Custom: 36 × ₹8,000 = ₹2,88,000 onward
A custom stand with a large LED wall, a closed meeting room, heavy joinery or premium finishes will sit well above the starting rate. Equally, a simple custom design with a few hero elements can stay close to it.
What else goes into the total exhibition budget?
The build is only one part of what you spend. When you set a budget, list each of the following separately:
- Space rental and venue charges: set by the organiser and the venue, and not included in any builder’s rate. Check the exhibitor manual for mandatory charges.
- Graphics and printing: fabric prints, vinyls, backlit panels and signage. Large-format graphics are often reprinted for every show.
- Audio-visual and technology: LED walls, screens, touch kiosks and sound, bought or rented.
- Furniture rental: sofas, bar stools, meeting tables and display cabinets hired for the show days.
- Power: organisers usually charge for the electrical load you request, so size it to your actual lighting and equipment.
- Transport: moving the stand from the workshop to the venue and back, including loading and unloading.
- Build-up labour: carpenters, electricians and supervisors on site, sometimes working overnight in tight build-up windows.
- Dismantling and waste removal: clearing the stall within the organiser’s deadline.
- Storage: warehousing reusable modular or custom components between shows.
- Your team: travel, accommodation, uniforms, giveaways and hospitality.
How can you control the cost without looking cheap?
- Brief early. Rushed timelines mean overtime, express printing and fewer design options. Six to eight weeks for a custom stand is comfortable.
- Spend on what visitors see first. Lighting, a strong header graphic and one hero display do more than expensive back walls.
- Go hybrid. A modular frame with one or two custom elements often gives a custom look at a much lower rate.
- Design for reuse. If you exhibit several times a year, a modular or reusable custom stand spreads the build cost over multiple shows.
- Rent rather than build furniture unless it carries your brand.
- Ask for an itemised quote so you can see exactly what you are paying for and compare builders like for like.
Is a custom stand always better value than a modular one?
Not always. If you attend one flagship show a year and want to launch a product or meet key accounts, a custom stand usually earns its cost. If you attend five regional shows with different stall sizes, a modular system, or a hybrid, will normally give better value across the year. Decide on the basis of how often you exhibit, how much the stall size varies and how important a distinctive presence is at each event.
What should an exhibition stall quotation include?
- 3D design, the number of revisions included and dimensioned drawings
- A materials and finishes specification
- Graphics sizes and print specification
- Electrical layout, light fittings and power points
- Furniture list, stating whether items are built or rented
- Transport, installation, on-site supervision and dismantling
- Payment milestones and a clear list of exclusions
